An old legend says that the seventh child born in a family is endowed with special gifts and talents, that he is protected by a higher power from all forms of evil.
The seventh of thirteen children in one family of the West at the turn of the century did indeed seem to possess special gifts. And, countless times, when an evil force would have taken his life, he was spared.
Guy J. Bailey was known as lucky because from the time he was three years old, when he lived through a horrible plague of black diphtheria, to the time he was eighty-one years old, when he survived a terrible traffic accident, his life was always preserved. But Guy learned that it was not luck. He learned that the God of heaven was protecting him for a special work. “In the shadow of his hand hath he hid me” (Isaiah 49:2). Guy found out what that work was and proceeded to do it with all his strength.
