One basic theme ties the books of Joel, Micah, and Zephaniah together—the urgent need for revival and reformation in a time of spiritual and political crisis. 

Why did these prophets focus so universally on God’s judgments? It was not to scare but to prepare. God wanted Israel to know what their rebellion caused Him to do in order to save them. Likewise, He wants those living in the last days to be aware of the judgments He must send in order to fulfill His plan of salvation and restoration.
